Summer is coming to a quick close and I want to thank the Lord for His leading and blessing over the past few months. Some of the highlights include our first summer-long Good News Club here on our campus. This augments our annual winter GNC at the New Brighton Elementary School. Thanks also to all who helped as we ministered to a great group of children all summer. We also held street prayer several times this summer and that will continue as long as weather permits. On Sunday mornings we began a study of 2 Timothy which will continue into Fall.
Our Fall schedule includes several changes and new additions. First, our Celebrate Recovery ministry is moving from Friday to Tuesday nights at 7pm; it is called Tuesday Night Oasis. Along with the change of day, we are adding a new focus: coming alongside the family and friends of those struggling with addition, anger, resentment, and other hurts and habits. Caring about someone caught up in addiction is difficult because of the pain we see them going through as well as the pain and chaos they cause. Well meaning family and friends often do not know what to do or how to do it and anything they try seems to make things worse and more unpredictable. At Tuesday Night Oasis family members and friends will learn more about what is happening and how to help. They will also find a place of peace, rest, and encouragement with others who face similar issues. I hope to see you on Tuesdays in September and throughout the Fall.
The second change for this Fall involves a new Bible study to replace the one formerly on Tuesday afternoon. This new Bible study, called REAL, will actually meet twice to give you flexibility of schedule; it will be the same content both times each week. The first option is Friday mornings at 10am, after prayer time. The second option is Sunday morning at 8:30am, before the worship service.
